Humphreys Co. Outdoor Report for Dec. 26th

Published Dec 27, 1:23pm

Lake levels at New Johnsonville on last Sunday were just under 355.5 ft, TVA has predicted a quick fall back to the 354 ft level by the end of the week.  Flow rates will mirror the fall, with a flow around 65,000 cfs, and I do expect the flow to remain strong until TVA gets the lake back to winter pool.  Water temps have re-bounded with the unseasonably warm temps and strong winds, with an average surface temp of the mid 50’s.

Not much of a fishing report again this week, as very strong winds have kept most off the water.  I’m hoping  as the wind subsides and flow rates diminish, the fishing will pick back up.

Deer season is almost over, and it seems most hunters have given up the chase, as the deer harvest seems to have slowed up.  Humphreys Co. only saw an increase in 72 deer harvested over the last week, we are now at a total of 1470 deer harvested in Humphreys Co. for the year.  The regular gun season will conclude next Sunday, January 2nd.  There will be a private lands hunt during the week of January 3rd-7th, with the conclusion of this years hunt, the juvenile deer hunt on January 8th-9th.

Waterfowl season will continue until the end of January, but with the warm weather and lack of ice and snow north of us, most of the waterfowl have set up residence to our north, and have been reluctant to venture south.  This has been apparent by the fact most of the blinds at Camden WMA being not hunted.
