Kentucky lake remains stable, with levels at 358.7ft at NewJohnsonville, with an average of 15,000cfs when generating. the Cumberland river at Dover is at 58ft, and at 29ft at Clarksville. Cheatham dam has been releasing between 7,000-13,000cfs when generating electricity. TVA will begin the annual draw-down the week after the 4th of July, so expect the lakes to drop next week, usually less than a foot, with the lakes reaching winter pool in late fall. The water temps have approached the 90 degree mark, which is a little earlier than normal, and expect to see some water quality issues in the lower levels of the lakes. The weather man has predicted some rainfall this upcoming week, hopefully we will have some increased flows in both lakes to help with the Oxygen levels.
The fishing report is that many Mayfly hatches have been occurring across the area lakes, and some good bream fishing has been found around the hatches. Fishermen have been using top water popping flies, crickets, meal worms, and other baits to entice the numerous panfish to bite. Bass continue to be found shallow early in the morning and at sunset in the shallows, but move back off-shore as the sun comes up. The fish seem to be relating to drops in 15-20ft depths, with the better bite when current is present. The catfish are on the main river channel drops, and fishermen are fishing mid to upper levels along the drops, as the bottom of the river seems to be in poor quality, devoid of oxygen already.
