This years deer season is winding down, with less than a week left in the regular gun season, which will end next Sunday, January 3rd. There will be a private lands hunt during the weekdays after the gun season ends, and the weekend of January 9-10th will be a youth hunt open to kids 6-15 yrs old. Deer season continues for the state through early January, and so far this year our deer hunters have been quite successful. So far in Humphreys Co. we have harvested 1,628 deer, of which we’ve gotten around 1000 antlered deer! Deer archery season began the 4th Saturday in September, and now with a week under our belt, Humphreys Co. has harvested 45 deer, of which 11 were antlered and the remainder were antler-less. Deer archery season will continue until the youth hunt at the end of the month.
